Signal Theory: The Alternate Narrative
When presented with the opportunity to pitch a new digital presence for the branding agency Signal Theory, we embraced the challenge with our signature cinematic approach. Our proposal was designed to be a bold alternative—a digital experience that would fully immerse visitors in the agency's dualistic philosophy of art and science.
A Vision of Immersive Storytelling
Our design centered on a fluid, narrative journey. We proposed a user experience where strategy documents felt like compelling scripts and case studies unfolded like short films. The aesthetic was clean yet textured, using subtle motion and a strong typographic voice to convey intelligence and sophistication, creating a space for their brilliant work to take center stage.
Our Proposed Creative Direction
This project represents our complete creative and strategic proposal for the Signal Theory website. In a competitive selection process, the client ultimately chose to proceed with a different partner whose vision was more aligned with their immediate goals. We respect their decision and remain incredibly proud of the unique, story-first direction we developed.
Project Highlights
Proposed a modular, story-centric design system
Designed interactive data visualizations for case studies
Focused on a mobile-first, cinematic scroll experience
Developed a content strategy to position them as thought leaders
A complete, unselected proposal from a formal pitch process
A Showcase of Strategic Creativity
This design stands as a powerful example of the sylq methodology: to find the core narrative of a brand and bring it to life with purpose and artistry.
“Our pitch for Signal Theory was a testament to our belief that a website should be a brand's most powerful storyteller. We presented a vision that was bold, immersive, and uniquely narrative-driven, and it remains a benchmark for the kind of ambitious work we strive to create.” – Yatharth Koshti, Creative Director at sylq
